چکیده

BackgroundTotal knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a successful treatment for patients with late stage osteoarthritis, yet arthrofibrosis remains consistent cause of TKA failure. Dupuytren’s, Ledderhose and Peyronie’s Diseases are related conditions increased fibroblast proliferation. The aim this study was to identify whether an association exists between these following TKA.MethodsPatient records were queried from 2010 2016 using administrative claims database compare the rates arthrofibrosis, manipulation under anesthesia (MUA), lysis adhesions (LOA), revision in independent chart diagnoses Dupuytren’s Contracture, Ledderhose, or versus those without. Complications compared multivariate logistic regression.ResultsPatients (n = 5,232) 50,716) had significantly higher rate ankylosis TKA: 30-days (OR, 1.54; OR, 1.23), 90-days 1.20; 1.24), 6-months 1.23; 1-year 1.28; while 1,186) diagnosis at 1.37) 1.35). Patients any fibroproliferative diseases statistically risk MUA 90-days, 6-month, primary TKA. These cohorts did not have TKA.ConclusionThere odds who undergone Diseases. Improvements frequency application post-operative should be considered improve outcomes.

A potential mode of action for Anakinra in patients with arthrofibrosis following total knee arthroplasty

Arthrofibrosis is a fibroproliferative disease characterised by excessive deposition of extracellular matrix components intra-articularly leading to pain and restricted range of movement. Although frequently observed following total knee arthroplasty (TKA) no therapeutic options exist. A pilot study demonstrated that intra-articular injection of Anakinra, an IL-1R antagonist, improved range of ...

Flexion contracture following primary total knee arthroplasty: risk factors and outcomes.

Function and satisfaction after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) are partially linked to postoperative range of motion (ROM). Fixed flexion contracture is a recognized complication of TKA that reduces ROM and is a source of morbidity for patients. This study aimed to identify preoperative risk factors for developing fixed flexion contracture following TKA and to quantify the effect of fixed flexio...

Reactive oxygen and nitrogen species induce protein and DNA modifications driving arthrofibrosis following total knee arthroplasty

BACKGROUND Arthrofibrosis, occurring in 3%-4% of patients following total knee arthroplasty (TKA), is a challenging condition for which there is no defined cause. The hypothesis for this study was that disregulated production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and nitrogen species (RNS) mediates matrix protein and DNA modifications, which result in excessive fibroblastic proliferation. RESULTS ...
